Mhow: Over a tip off from a source, the Divisional Flying Squad of the excise department raided the rear portion of a roadside dhaba near Manpur on Monday. A huge cache of spirit used in the manufacture of liquor was seized by the officials.
Indore Assistant Excise Commissioner Rajnarayan Soni said that under the operation clean circle, green circle, the raid was carried out at Hayat Golden Mewat Dhaba. Nothing was found in the front side of the dhaba but when flying squad team opened the doors of closed rooms on the rear side of the dhaba, nine steel drums were found kept in the room. When the drums were examined, it was found that they were filled with rectified spirit which is used in the manufacture of illicit liquor. Balram son of Ram Waskel was arrested from the spot while one person who was also present there fled from there.
He said that the market price of the seized spirit about four lakhs.
As per the sources, the hotel building and the surrounding land is owned by Gajra Bheel who is the sarpanch of Foot Talab village panchayat. Front portion in which the dhaba is being run has been rented to a person while the rear portion, from where spirit has been recovered is under his possession.
