Foreign Gold Seizure by DRI Indore from Delhi Passenger, gold hidden in Portable Speakers and Juicer Mixer

DRI (Directorate of Revenue Intelligence) Indore Zonal Unit on Tuesday night, conducted operation at Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar (DABH) International Airport and intercepted a passenger who arrived from Dubai on Air India flight 904 and recovered 612 gms. of gold worth approximately Rs. 25 lakhs concealed in metallic parts of Portable Speakers and Juicer Mixer. This person was supposed to carry this gold to New Delhi. One accused has been detained in this regard. Further investigation is under process.
Recent seizures are indicative of increased smuggling of gold from foreign countries more specifically from Dubai. One of the main reasons behind this is the considerable price difference between Indian and international market price of Gold.
Last week only DRI Indore Zonal Unit had intercepted a passenger who arrived from Dubai and had recovered approx half kg gold in paste capsule form, from his rectum at Indore airport.
