poignant tribute to the memory of the illustrious Cheistha Kochar, a shining
star who left an indelible mark on the academic firmament, Army Public School,
Mhow, is set to launch a series of annual competitions that will ignite the
spark of creativity and eloquence in its students. The school, in collaboration
with Cheistha's father, Lt Gen (Dr) SP Kochhar (Retired), has instituted

winners of essay writing and debate competitions, thereby perpetuating the
legacy of this extraordinary individual.
Cheistha
Kochar, an alumnus of the school, was a paragon of academic excellence, whose
remarkable journey was tragically cut short in a road accident while pursuing
her PhD at the esteemed London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE)
on a full scholarship. Her academic prowess was a testament to her unwavering
dedication and passion for learning, earning her a plethora of accolades,
including the coveted Clinton Global Fellow in 2020, Irving B. Harris Scholar
in 2019, TATA Scholar in 2012, Dr. Roshan Lal Trust Scholar in 2012, and the
Young India Fellow by Ashoka University in 2013.
As a key member
of the founding team of Aadhar in India, Cheistha's contributions were
recognized with the first Aadhar number in the country, a token of appreciation
for her groundbreaking work. Her remarkable achievements serve as a beacon of
inspiration to the students of Army Public School, Mhow, and the institution is
committed to keeping her memory alive through these annual competitions.
The essay
writing and debate competitions will provide a platform for our students to
hone their public speaking, critical thinking, and writing skills, while paying
tribute to Cheistha's remarkable legacy. The winners will be felicitated with
cash prizes, medals, certificates, and running trophies, serving as a
motivation to strive for excellence in their academic pursuits.
